Sent: 30 October 2012 14:57 Like other commenters, I question who is defining hypersexuality and sex addiction and why. There is an enormous range in frequency/intensity of sexual interest, not merely from one person to another, but often in the same person at different times of life. I would be hesitant to consider (other than in a joking, colloquial way) a sexually active (another term I have reservations about--how active is active?) person to be a sex addict. For women in particular, these labels pathologize what may simply be a strong and frequent sexual desire. That's not to say that strongly sexed people (of any gender) necessarily have an easy time satisfying that desire in a socially approved manner, but that's to some extent a different question. Perhaps the querier has trouble finding British women willing to talk about their "addiction" because British women don't feel they have an addiction in the first place?
