Sent: 18 August 2011 13:46 I agree with most of Gavriel Ansara's criticisms after watching the trailer. The film looked like a slightly more sophisticated version of a film in the English "Carry On" series-if anyone remembers them? However, the film has not been released and films probably shouldn't be judged by just viewing their trailers. I checked on the IMDB-the director is a woman although the script and story seem to be by males. There is no mention that this film has anything to do with the book by Maines. I thought at first it might be a film version of Sarah Rhule's "In the Next Room (or the Vibrator play)." This play was nominated for Tonys a couple of years ago and seemed a more serious take on this topic although I did not see it. Here is a review http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/18/theater/reviews/18vibr.html?_r=2&ref=theater By the way, I would be interested to hear criticisms of the film, "Kinsey"-but I suppose it's too late to revisit the film at this stage. I visited the institute two years ago and members of the staff there seemed pleased with it. Some of them appear on one of the extras in a DVD version. Robert Goff
