James Madison's Notes of the Debates in the Federal Convention of 1787 have been put online by the Constitution Center at James Madison's Montpelier estate in Virginia. Using ConText, the software developed by the Center, scholars can enter comments and annotate the text. Notes of Debates in the Federal Convention of 1787 was James Madison's record of the daily debates held by delegates at the Philadelphia Convention, which resulted in the drafting of the United States Constitution. It is one of historians' few sources of information on the convention proceedings.
