EDUCATIONAL HISTORY ARTICLES in CURRENT PERIODICALS Compiled monthly (or so) by Penny L. Richards for H-Education Introduction: This is the third of these listings. A few caveats and ground rules: These articles are in periodicals OUTSIDE the usual History of Education journals (HEQ, Paed. Hist., etc). They are on the current periodicals shelves at UCLA, USC, or the Huntington Library at the time of posting, but in other libraries they may already be bound in volumes. Your definitions of history and education may exclude some of these and include others. It's not always easy to tell from titles what an article is about, but most of these are pretty clearly on topic. Only English-language articles from 1998-1999 were scanned for inclusion. Contributions (from the most recent two calendar years only, please) are always welcome--please send them to me OFF-LIST -and they'll be added to the next batch for posting. Since I can't read all the current tables of contents on every visit, batches may seem to have themes related to the section I've mined most recently. This one seems heavy on Southern states and nineteenth century; next batch, who knows... Part I is Non-US, Part II (which follows) is US. If something is comparative or otherwise hard to place, I've usually put it in Part II. Part I: Non-US Histories of Education Garner, James Stuart.
