Peace with honor meant that the US would withdraw from Vietnam in such a way as to insure that South Vietnam would continue to exist as a country. It meant that the US would get all its POWs back. Finally, America's reputation would stand in good stead among countries of the world as having saved SVN from communist aggression through its commitment to use military force in defense of an ally--the US would not be a so-called "Paper Tiger." Something along these lines. A good book on why the US went to VN is "Vietnam: The Necessary War," by Lind. Rob MacNichol Irvine Valley College
