Sent: Wed 3/1/2006 11:20 AM Subject: Query: Captain Daniel Chadwick On behalf of HOG RIVER JOURNAL subscriber Daniel Woodhead, III, I'm forwarding his request: I have an ancestor, Captain Daniel Chadwick, who was a packet ship captain back in the early-mid 1800s. His home was in Old Lyme, where he was, I am told, the "admiral" of the some-odd 12 sea captains who lived in Old Lyme at that time. Also, I am told, Captain Chadwick was the prototype for the sea captain in James Fennimore Cooper's novel, "The Pilot." Do you have information on Captain Daniel Chadwick? The Chadwick family, of which my grandmother, Ellen Noyes Chadwick Woodhead, was a member, goes back many years in Connecticut's history. I have information on other noteworthy members of the Chadwick family but cannot find anything on the elusive Captain Daniel Chadwick. I have not had success with the museums down at Old Lyme or Mystic Seaport. Daniel Woodhead, III San Francisco, CA email@example.com
