Capitalism in Action! March 3, 2011 - 5:30pm - March 5, 2011 - 1:30pm Harvard University, Cambridge, MA Sweeping narratives of American capitalism often rest on powerful but abstract concepts like "markets" or "capital." The third graduate student conference on the History of American Capitalism, "Capitalism in Action!" seeks to clarify these terms by interrogating the nitty-gritty details of how capitalist systems have been imagined, constructed, maintained, altered, and challenged by actors on the ground. Join us for lively discussion panels on "Unnatural Abundance," "Legends of Capital," and other exciting topics. Cultural and intellectual historian T.J. Jackson Lears will deliver the keynote address and commentators from around the world will lend their expertise. The keynote and all paper sessions are free and open to the public!
