H-ASIA October 26, 1998 Library of Congress Events at the American Historical Assn. Convention *************************************************************************** From: Carolyn T Brown <cbro@loc.gov> I read with interest your H-ASIA notice of events for historians of Asia at the upcoming AHA convention in Washington, D.C. in early January 1999. You may wish to alert members of the profession to the following: The Library of Congress will hold an Open House for members of AHA on Saturday, January 9 between 11:45 and 1:45. The new Asian Division Reading Room, which is normally closed on Saturdays, will be open, as will those for Africa and the Middle East, Europe and the Hispanic world. Area studies specialists will be on hand to provide current information about collections, services, and facilities. However, collections will not be served that day. The Library will also offer orientations, one specifically targetted to graduate students, to the use of its collections. Reading rooms that are normally open on Saturdays will, of course, be open as usual. For additional information, see the next issue of the AHA newsletter, see the Library's website, www.loc.gov, or phone Lavonda Broadnax (202)707-0901. Thanks for getting the word out.
