Based at Buddhistdoors headquarters in Hong Kong, the chief executive will be working closely with existing Chinese and English editorial teams, IT and production units, and monastic spiritual adviser. Their mandate is to nurture the growth of the website to meet the fast-evolving needs of English- and Chinese-speaking audiences across the globe who are interested in the Buddhas teachings. The website hosts a range of editorial platforms, notably textual, pictorial & graphic; audio-visual; broadcast; mobile; and social media. It also publishes a limited number of books and other print materials. Qualifications & Responsibilities University graduate, with at least 10 years relevant experience, including in senior editorial management Knowledge of both English and Chinese, with advanced writing and editing ability in one language and at least a solid reading capability in the other A sound general knowledge of Buddhism An ability to organize efficiently and oversee the work of an increasingly complex, bi-lingual and multi-media editorial operation, using a consultative, collaborative management style Oversight and management of Buddhistdoor.coms content, to ensure that it is consistent with the websites mission & objectives The ability, with the help of an administrative manager, to draw up and execute a business plan (including budgets, some fund-raising activities, etc.) for the operation Answerable to a board of directors Interested persons should submit an application letter explaining why they are attracted to this position, and why they might make a good fit.
