H-ASIA May 23, 2011 Reminder: Nomination for the NCC Chair-Elect Deadline June 3, 2011 ******************************************************************** From: Tokiko Bazzell <tokiko@hawaii.edu> The deadline is near: June 3, 2011 Dear Colleagues: The North American Coordinating Council on Japanese Library Resources (the NCC) seeks nominations of candidates for *the NCC Chair-Elect* to serve a one-year term followed by a three-year term as Chair of the NCC. The Chair-Elect’s term begins January 1, 2012 and is followed by a term as NCC Chair running from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2015. Candidates for NCC Chair should be energetic librarians with extensive experience in Japanese language collection development and knowledge of Japanese information resources. Candidates should have a record of accomplishments and leadership as demonstrated by service on NCC and CEAL Committees and Task Forces; attendance at major conferences, seminars and workshops; through print and digital publications; and through training and outreach to the field of Japanese studies. The Chair of the NCC serves as the public face of the NCC and must have outstanding interpersonal skills, and excellent fluency in both English and Japanese. The Chair is a member of the NCC’s Executive Committee, which oversees all aspects of NCC activities including program development, project management, grant writing, and relationship building. The Chair also works most closely with the NCC’s Executive Director who has responsibility for the day-to-day management of NCC activities, oversees the regular operations of the NCC, evaluates human resource needs, and reviews support-staff performance. Frequent contact between the Chair and the Executive Director is essential to review progress on projects, monitor budgets, maintain close contact with funders, and with the activities of NCC Committees and Task Forces. For NCC’s current activities, please check its web site: http://www.nccjapan.org/index.html. Nominations should be sent by *June 3, 2011* to Tokiko Bazzell, past NCC Chair and Chair of the 2011 Chair-Elect Nominating Committee, at < tokiko@hawaii.edu>. Nominees will be consulted by the NCC Nominating Committee regarding their willingness to stand for election. Interested nominees will then be asked to submit a short CV and a personal statement outlining their strengths for the position. The election of the next NCC Chair-Elect will take place at the September 2011 working meeting of the NCC Council.
