(Candidates who apply on the basis of equivalency must submit the Supplemental Application for Equivalency Determination form in addition to all other required materials.); OR Valid California Community College Instructor credential, appropriate to the subject, per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990). EXPERIENCE REQUIRED A minimum of one (1) year (full or part-time) recent and successful experience teaching World History at the postsecondary level. Teaching experience as a graduate student may be accepted to fulfill this requirement. Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to those candidates who demonstrate a high level of professional expertise on the basis of having: An earned Doctorate or ABD in Asian, Latin American, or Middle Eastern History from an accredited college or university; A command of the major historiographical debates within the discipline; The ability to bring relevant research and scholarship experience into the community college classroom; Knowledge of and ability to integrate instructional technology in the classroom and to be able to use such technology to offer curriculum and student learning through diverse delivery modes, as appropriate; Experience in developing lower-division history curriculum at the college/university level. SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach lower-division courses in World History and specialized courses in one or more of the following areas: Asia, Latin America or Middle East. Participate in the development of history programs within the context of humanistic inquiry (e.g., Humanities and Honors Programs, etc.). Assignments may include day and evening classes. Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational and in-service programs.
