The University has organized many conferences and seminars in its small life span, some of the prominent ones are Lecture by Prof Sakiko-Fukuda Parr, author of Global Human Development Report under Global Lecture Series, *“Economic Reforms and Development Dynamics: A Cross Border Dialogue between India and Nepal”* in collaboration with the BP Koirala Nepal-India Foundation; International Conference on *Sub-regionalism Approach to Regional Integration in South Asia: Prospects and Opportunities*in collaboration with Frederich Ebert Stiftung, New Delhi. * *It also hosted the Guha Science Conference in October 2008 which attracted the cream of scientists working in the area of Biology and Botany from India. It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that Sikkim University is now hosting the Fifth Biennial Conference of Indian Association of Asian and Pacific Studies (IAAPS) in Gangtok, Sikkim from 10-12 December, 2010 *The Indian Association for Asian & Pacific Studies* is a non–profit, non-governmental registered organisation (under Act XXVI of 1961, Government of West Bengal, India) devoted to academic activities on Asian and Pacific regions. The Association promotes research, conference, seminar, lecture programs and understanding of different Asian & Pacific regions in its cultural, social, political and economic scenario. The Association is a forum for scholars engaged in Area Studies to carry out social science oriented studies, which are to some extent inter- regional and inter-societal comparative studies.
