<rstrayer@worldnet.att.net> Date: Thu, 06 Nov 1997 Regarding material for History of South Africa, might I suggest Rian Malan, _My Traitor's Heart_. It is a thoughtful portrait of South Africa in the late 1980s and full of the complexities which chara terize both sides of the racial divide. It is also useful in that it predicts a blood bath, which didn't happen and thus raises the interesting question of the relatively peaceful conclusion of the apartheid era. My students have been transfixed by the book.
