<mecak01@moravian.edu> I am soliciting advice for teaching materials for a course called "Modern Southern Africa." The course is cross-listed in both history and political science, and presented at a middle level of difficulty (sophomores and juniors) with no prerequisites. I mostly cover the history, politics, and economics of the former settler colonies of Southern Africa. I am particularly looking for materials that discuss events in the last 4 or 5 years that are readable, current, comprehensive, or otherwise helpful. Among the books and articles I have previously used to good effect are two by Allister Sparks books, _The Mind of South Africa_ (1990) and _Tomorrow is Another Country_ (1995). Their journalistic style helps keep students' attention. Any other suggestions?
