<d-blake@sas.ac.uk> As Peter Limb says, COPAC is extremely useful for finding the location of materials in British research libraries. It will be even more useful for Africanists when SASCAT, the database of the School of Advanced Study (which includes the Institute of Commonwealth Studies) is loaded. Exactly when this will happen is not yet clear - it won't be very long - but in the meantime access to the School's database is possible by telnet (193.62.18.239) or through the School's web site (http://www.sas.ac.uk). In the past year the Institute of Commonwealth Studies has computerised its card and microfiche catalogues. All monographs, annaul reports and periodicals are now on. The following categories of material are NOT yet on: * political party, trade union and pressure group materials (a substantial collection, including much from Africa, especially Southern Africa) * Foreign Office and Colonial Office confidential print * Cape papers The library is open free of charge to all academics and students from any university in the world.
