I'm doing some exploratory research related to land use, and it would be helpful to be able to call up at one time a range of research done on particular locations. In other words, a way to check a region of a country, its districts and individual communities, for research in all disciplines, development agency reports, and other publications. In past interdisciplinary research I have used a combination of topical databases and lookup of cited resources from physical journals and books available in a university library. With the ever-growing number of publications, expansion of databases covering those, and innovation of ways to access all of these digitally, I am wondering if anyone has tried to index them geographically, perhaps link them to digital maps (per a kind of geographic information system interface), and make them available online.
