cases Date: Thu, July 30, 2009 3:59 am Dear List members, In my research on infanticide in Natal, I have stumbled upon many transcripts of court cases that have been recorded in shorthand. These court cases are dated mainly after the late colonial period, the earliest court case in 1922. If anyone can assist me with the identification of the type of shorthand as well as point me to someone who can translate this, I would be most grateful. I have shown these to a few shorthand experts and it does not seem to follow some of the common types such as Pitman’s or Munson. I will scan a page and email this off list. Furthermore, if anyone has more general information about the use of shorthand in this period in South Africa, that would be helpful, too. Kind regards, Prinisha
