My entire family came from Russia and is traceable there back to the early 19th century; the first members of my family to set foot in the United States did so in 1888. Since slavery had ended in the United States 25 years earlier, what should be my share of any reparations payments made to the descendants of slaves? What would be a fair and equitable basis that scholars could recommend to the U.S. government or some "Congressional Reparations Executive Committee" upon which to base that amount?
