To ask as to "what contributed greatly to imbalances" is to eloquently demonstrate rigidity. Why? Because the thread under discussion is self explanatory. For me, "Education is a dynamic process of learning and unlearning" with a measure of flexibility to build from what we know to what we do not know. For instance, until 2006, planets in the solar system were thought to be 9, but due to some arguments put by NASA scientist Mike Brown, International Astronomical Union (IAU), the eminent authorities decided upon 8 planets. But, we have all learnt of the solar system as having nine planets. And so, would we begin to argue why planets are currently understood to be 8? No at all. Reason? It is a fact whose future faces further inputs and outputs. Thus, until an individual opens up the opportunity to objectively read the past, then the present can be understood. Some eminent scholars on this site have suggested further unpacking of this challenge, and I think this is an entry point that should purposefully be considered than limiting our hard earned energies to the surface. I suspect some commentaries are being hurriedly made leaving out the "meat". Victor Kazembe Kawanga, Zambia
