Dear Colleagues, I am trying to locate any information about the Stilt village located at Gavie, Benin. I understand that it was built as a means of protection against raiders from the Kingdom of Dahomey (who, for religious reasons, were not permitted to raid over water?), and that it was constructed in the eighteenth century; however, apart from this I have little more information about it. Please can anyone offer any assistance in this matter - Kind regards ---------------------------------------- Paul Coombes Researcher The British Empire & Commonwealth Museum T: 0117 925 4980 F: 0117 925 4983 http://www.empiremuseum.co.uk Images of Empire is the largest dedicated online resource of still and moving images on the British colonial period.
