East Tennessee State Univ. <AFRICA@mail.etsu.edu> You surely must see H. Moyse-Bartlett's, _The Kings African Rifles_ (1956), the standard regimental history. More recent is Malcolm Page's (no relation) _KAR: A History of the King's African Rifles_ (1998), but not as cogent as Moyse-Bartlett. Timothy Parson's, _The African Rank and File: Social Implications of Colonial Military Service in the King's African Rifles, 1902-1964_ (1999) probably will be helpful, does have some research problems (check reviews) and is more focused on Kenya. I touch tangentially on some of the issues in _The Chiwaya War_ (2000), although that is focused on Malawi. The most likely source is Kevin Brown, whose recent Michigan State PhD dissertation is most likely to have some insights you might find helpful.
