<thomsonm@bu.edu> A friend recently asked me this question and I thought it might be good to get other ideas from list members. "I would be grateful for suggestions about African writers who have produced short stories or novels about issues relating to borders--international and otherwise. Colonial, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, current state, or other borders might all fall within the range of this inquiry. What writers have treated, at least fantasmatically, the idea of border crossing? My question arises as I assemble a syllabus for an undergraduate class, so suggestions of books originally in or translated into English would be most helpful. For my own curiosity, however, I'd be delighted to know of any Francophone titles as well." Please feel free to respond either to the list or to me directly at the address above.
