I am the elementary computer teacher for my district in New Jersey. Luckily, it is a small district, so I have to maintain two labs, one in each school. As far as curricular integrationf for classroom teachers, part of my job description is to provide in-service to the teachers. Also, classroom teachers are required to come with their class to a forty minute computer lab period. Although, I am responsible for lessons during these periods, I very often collaborate with the classroom teachers. Sometimes, teachers use this time to learn something they are not familar with. Many will participate in my class along with their students. Keep complaining to your administrators. I cannot imagine having to maintain the lab without being the full time computer teacher. Having been an elementary classroom teacher, I realize that your job(s) are next to impossible. Good luck in convincing the board! EDTECH has changed addresses.
