Create the template as a picture in KidPix Studio, save it as a .bmp to the hard drive, go to explorer, right click on the file, right click on properties, and set the read-only attribute. You now have a template which cannot be over-written by students as they alter the templates to complete the lesson. When saving, they will need to choose a different name or location. We have long used this method in our K-8 technology curriculum to focus student efforts on the concept being taught instead of requiring them to spend time starting from scratch.
