I'm assuming that this is the Win 9x registry to which you are referring, and I'm not sure whether you are talking about system messages or programs that run at startup, but here goes. If the latter, then there is a nifty free utility that helps deal with them safely called StartupCPL. It is available for download from http://nonags.gj.net/pwrt32.html. Failing that, you may wish to hit F8 when booting up, and running through the startup with step-by-step confirmation of the boot process. This may help you identify the offending messages, and give you clues as to where to REM out the the lines (e.g., in system files) that cause them. Cheers.
