What size is the original photo? 3x5? Is the size that you want to print the picture at the same as the original? How many pixels are on each side? 1024x768 pixels? Or more? What is the DPI of the photo? 300? Are using an all-in-one printer/fax/scanner? Are you just pushing a button on the scanner? Or are you actually setting the controls (for example, the resolution) before you start the scanner? Are you using the marquee around the photo so that it fits the frame of the photo exactly? By any chance, are you scanning a newspaper photo?
