The ideal candidate will have significant knowledge of Mac server and desktop configuration and deployment in a cross platform network environment, as well as experience with managing Windows servers. We seek a candidate with experience in a school environment and a strong appreciation for the role of technology in learning. We highly value the ability to learn rapidly, teach, and share technical knowledge and skills. Technologists at Riverdale work in a closely collaborative team; a strong fit with the departmental culture is essential. Strong communication and inter-personal skills are also required to foster positive interactions with our user base and the community as a whole. The Systems Administrator will report directly to and will meet regularly with the Director of Technology. Riverdale actively seeks diversity in its employees. Riverdale has two campuses with 500 Mac- and Windows-based clients. We manage and maintain desktop and laptop clients using tools and technologies such as XenServer, SAN, Active Directory, Ghost, System Center, Apple Remote Desktop, DeployStudio, Open Directory, Workgroup Manager, Scripting, and Composer. General departmental responsibilities include managing directory systems, backups, networks, printers, collaboration/groupware systems, and participating in teaching, training, curricular integration. Required personal skills: • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills, including ability to organize time and work on multiple tasks and follow through to completion of task or project • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including high degree of attention to detail • Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and parents • Desire to learn and to stay abreast of emerging technologies Education/Experience • Minimum 2 years experience managing Macintosh systems in an enterprise environment • Must have extensive experience with image creation and deployment on the Mac platform, preferably in a thin-image environment. The candidate will • collaborate closely with two existing Systems Administrators and the entire technology team • install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain 160+ Mac OS X desktops and laptops on the Hill Campus • install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain Mac OS X servers and Open Directory • manage backups along with disaster preparedness planning • manage images of Mac OS X computers, including centralized deployment of patches, updates and configuration changes as needed.
