Thank you Amy for mediating this debate and proposing a fantastically fair idea. My school has keypad locks on its exterior doors that teachers must use their passwords to open. Our copiers require use of the teacher's passcode in order to process the request. That keeps track of the budgeted number of copies each teacher makes. Keeps them to a maximum number in an effort to control costs, etc. Empowering teachers with unbarred (yet limited) access to websites so that they can spontaneously use previously reviewed websites in their lessons (without having to first research websites at home on their own time; waiting for tech to process request and unblock the site) would limit student access and simultaneously allow teachers to fully integrate technology into their instruction. Best of everyone's world!!!! Education is meant to empower, educe, and encourage divergent thinking. Amy's suggestion would accomplish all three.
