A very nice librarian pointed out to me that more than focusing on the legal issues we need to address the concern of the emotional scars that this can have. I totally agree. And if you can possible access my materials through your filter you will see. I should have gone into this more in my email - I was just so concerned about the arrest that this had my focus. The most important thing to focus on instructionally is the loss of power. Teens are very focused on wanting their own power - this is developmentally driven. Their major life task is becoming a separate, fully functional individual - separating from their family. So the issue of personal power is very important. If they send a nude image to someone else they have totally given over their power to this person - who could: Send the image to others - like if the relationship breaks up - which many teen relationships do. Sell it - recent news story of a boy selling his girl friend's image for $5. Use it for blackmail - if you break up with me or or you don't have sex with me I will share your image." Traffic it in child porn collections - some evidence that pedophiles are posing as teens to trick teens into sending images that they can add to the child porn collections. Report it to a school official or the police. This is in my posters. Nancy -- Nancy Willard, M.S., J.D.
