<HISPCNS@srv0.arts.ed.ac.uk> Date: Tue, 1 Oct 1996 I was away when the message was originally posted. With respect to Adam Jones's posting, half of the 'Ethnicity in Africa' conference of 1995 has already been published under the title of Louise de la Gorgendiere, Kenneth King, Sarah Vaughan (eds.) _Ethnicity in Africa: Roots, Meanings and Implications_ (Edinburgh : Centre of African Studies, 1996). Copies are available from the Centre of African Studies, University of Edinburgh, Adam Ferguson Building, George Square, Edinburgh EH8 9JY, U.K. The 'Ethnicity in Ghana' papers, which make up the other half of the conference, are currently being edited by Carola Lentz and myself and we expect they will appear in 1997 (with an external publisher). The original conference papers can probably be acquired in a pre-revised state through the Centre office. I myself teach a fourth year undergraduate history course on 'Ethnicity, Class and Power in Twentieth Century Africa' which compares Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia and South Africa. The reading list is quite extensive (ie. can't be sent in this medium), but I could probably arrange to have it sent to the person who originally posted the message. **************************************** Editor's Note: H-Africa would welcome submissions of both course syllabi and subject bibliographies for publication on our wepage. mep ****************************************
